After recording a 12% overall increase in the number of tourists in 2024, according to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the Mamaia resort remains Romanians’ favorite summer destination this year as well. For 2025, the range of accommodations is diverse and affordable for an increasing number of tourists, and there is a wide variety of dining and leisure options, explain representatives of the Mamaia-Constanța Destination Management Organization.
“This June, in the resort town of Mamaia, summer season prices have been adjusted to be affordable for as many tourists as possible. In short, there are options for every taste and budget, ranging from premium accommodations to more affordable lodging. However, the media and public discourse have once again begun to feature the usual references to ‘exorbitant prices on the Romanian coast.’ This is a classic generalization, and most of the examples cited refer to rates and prices in the Mamaia Nord area. “However, this area belongs administratively to the city of Năvodari and is not part of the Mamaia resort, which stretches for 8 km, from the Satul de Vacanță area in Constanța to the entrance to Năvodari,” explains George Măndilă, president of the Mamaia Constanța Destination Management Organization.

According to the president of the OMD, this June, a 3-night stay for two people at a 3-star hotel in the Mamaia resort starts at approximately 750 lei, with breakfast included, while at a four-star hotel, under the same conditions, prices start at 1,100–1,300 lei. However, in the latter case, the offer also includes other amenities, such as a private beach, free lounge chairs, a swimming pool, recreational activities, parking, etc. In fact, many hotels in the resort have their own private beach and do not charge for lounge chairs.
Food prices also remain affordable in Mamaia. For example, these days, lunch at a 4-star restaurant near the beach costs about 96 lei and includes tripe soup (with peppers and sour cream), grilled chicken breast (200 g), served with French fries and a mixed salad. And a night’s stay at a nearby hotel in a double room, including two lounge chairs and free parking, costs about 320 lei, while a hearty breakfast comes to 40 lei per person.
More tourists in Mamaia
“Precisely to encourage the influx of both Romanian and foreign tourists, many accommodation providers offered promotional packages and early-booking discounts well in advance. And many players in the resort’s hospitality and leisure sectors kept prices in 2025 as close as possible to last year’s levels,” notes George Măndilă.
The adjustment of rates and prices in Mamaia to market demands, so as to make them accessible to the widest possible range of tourists, is also evident in the resort’s results. According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (INS), as of September 1, 2024, the integrated Mamaia–Constanța destination recorded 414,407 Romanian tourists, representing a 12% increase compared to the previous year, and 30,150 foreign tourists, a 10% increase compared to 2023. Last year, in 2024, the total number of overnight stays in Mamaia was 1,240,881, up 3.5% from 2023, reflecting a continuous improvement in the destination’s offerings and appeal. And according to the president of OMD Mamaia Constanța, the outlook for 2025 indicates significant growth in both categories of tourists.
