The Mamaia-Constanța destination is in the spotlight of 50 foreign media partners and tour operators
Four days packed with historical and cultural insights, plenty of fun, and entertainment programs. These were the essential ingredients that OMD Mamaia Constanța offered last week to both foreign media partners and tour operators present on the Romanian coast to promote the Mamaia resort and the city of Constanța abroad, as well as to attract foreign tourists to the destination.

The Mamaia Constanța Destination Management Organization hosted the “Mamaia – Back in Business” familiarization trip from July 4–9, 2024. The event attracted approximately 50 participants from the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Ireland, Poland, India, the United States, and Switzerland, who say that their recent experience in the resort town of Mamaia and the city of Constanța has helped them discover the immense potential of a region that has so much to offer visitors.
“Mamaia Resort and the city of Constanța have enormous potential to attract British and Irish tourists. They have so much to offer! Travel enthusiasts value destinations where they feel safe, with plenty of sunshine, beautiful beaches, art, culture, and extraordinary events like the Neversea Festival. Our group was impressed by the quality and hospitality we received during the familiarization trip. Through the program offered by the organization in collaboration with local partners, the Mamaia resort and the city of Constanța are top contenders among destinations to be promoted globally. We look forward to showing our readers what we discovered, to bring as many foreign tourists as possible to Constanța and the Mamaia resort,” says Sarah LEE, coordinator of the UK media partner group at Captivate MEDIA.

“I’m veryproud to be Romanian, but I’m also an Italian citizen. It’s not easy to forget your roots, and my roots are here. I will always be just as proud to represent Constanța and promote my city. Thank you to the entire OMD Mamaia Constanța team for giving me the opportunity to be an ambassador for the city of Constanța and the Mamaia resort in other countries and around the world”, said Ligia HOFNAR, coordinator for the group of media partners and tour operators in Italy.
Over the course of the four days, guests had the opportunity to explore everything from the expansive beaches and luxury hotels of the Mamaia resort to the historic charm of the city’s old town and the entire peninsula. At the same time, the visit to the Tomis Marina highlighted the region’s maritime potential.

“HelloWe in Constanța and the Mamaia resort—the weather is fantastic! The beaches are wonderful, with plenty of options for lovers of local cuisine. Constanța is a tourist gem! The promenade area near the Casino is an excellent choice for an evening stroll for both tourists and locals. The Neversea Festival, the marina, the architecture, the sun, the restaurants—what more could a tourist want?”says Dariusz Olejniczak, a journalist for the Polish daily Dziennik Baltycki.
The trip also included a visit to the Neversea Festival, which gave participants a glimpse into the nightlife and the electrifying atmosphere that such an event offers.

Another important part of the study tour was visiting the wineries in Dobrogea. The group participated in local wine tastings and learned about the region’s winemaking traditions. Guided tours of historical and religious sites, such as Tropaeum Traiani and St. Andrew’s Monastery, added a cultural, spiritual, and educational dimension to the overall travel experience.
“The last day of the familiarization trip was packedwith activities focused on tourist attractions outside the Mamaia-Constanța destination. The wineries in Dobrogea are key attractions that all our foreign partners were delighted with. This major event is just the first step in developing long-term strategic partnerships with foreign tour operators, who will include our destination in their international travel catalogs. We thank everyone for participating and assure them that we have a city with immense potential, with many other attractions to add to their list. We are committed to transforming the Mamaia-Constanța destination into one of the most sought-after in Europe. Our projects and initiatives are focused on attracting investment and continuously improving the quality of tourism services”, saidGeorge Măndilă, president of the Mamaia Constanța Destination Management Organization.
The infotrip also played a strategic role in establishing new partnerships with other airlines and tour operators in Europe and around the world. Organizing the event was an important step for the development of tourism in the Mamaia-Constanța area, demonstrating the region’s ability to adapt and innovate. Through ongoing efforts to promote and improve infrastructure and services, the Mamaia resort and the city of Constanța are poised to rise to the top on the European map.
